Former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sunday Mbang, has declared that the Christian community will reject corrupt politicians and cultists who will contest the governorship or any political position in Akwa Ibom State by 2023.

He stated this while fielding questions from journalists after COVID-19 prayer summit for National Assembly members from the state in Uyo at the weekend with the theme: “Do You Know What Tomorrow Will Bring, What Is Your Life?

He said God would not allow any corrupt or unclean politician who engages in fetish or the occult and cultism practices to be elected in the state, warning all politicians who wish to contest in the 2023 elections to shun all evils.

Mbang, who is former President of the World Methodist Council, noted that the effect of cultism in the state was so hurting and alarming, stressing that the Christian community would not elect cultists and would oppose anyone found in occultism.

“I use this opportunity to warn all those who desire political positions in the next general elections to distance themselves from cultism and diabolism or my God will not allow them to succeed in the name of Jesus Christ.

“I urge Akwa Ibom people and the Christian community to reject people who belong to the occult and who engages in the diabolic, either as governor, senator or any other political position.

“We want people who are clean, not the diabolic, corrupt, cultists and so on to rule us because unfortunately, our children belong to cults. We want clean people so that our children will know that since their fathers are not there, they should not be there too,” he said.

However, Mbang said the essence of the prayer summit was to dedicate all the National Assembly members from the state to God against the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
