THE PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings,
and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and
peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
For this good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will
have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
(1Tim.2:1-4)
Too many times we are so self-centered when it comes to prayer
regarding all our needs first before considering praying for another
person.
Paul said in the opening scripture, ” I exhort therefore, that,
first…” Let’s put first things first.
Most times we allow secondary things predominate, and neglect things
that should be first. The prayer of intercession is one of the most
powerful weapons in God’s kingdom in causing profound effect on the
earth.
In our opening scripture, this type of prayer is to be made for ALL MEN.
Paul said by the Spirit of God that we should pray “for kings, and for
all that are in authority” that means we are to pray for our
government-for those who are in authority-from the national level down
to the local level. In the time in which Paul wrote, most countries
had kings for leaders, equivalent
to that in our present days would be President.
Paul then said “for all that are in authority” meaning all our
leaders-Senators, Governors-all who are in authority.
Enough of criticizing the state of the country and the people in
authority and be in an attitude of praying for the country.
When we do this we would ….”lead a quiet and peaceable life.” Notice
the fourth verse: “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto
the knowledge of the truth.” God’s greatest desire in having us pray
for those in authority is that we will be able to spread the Gospel
effectively.
If we do not have good government where there
is quietness and peace, it hinders the propagation of the Gospel. Like
in time of war, political upheavals, terrorism and other limitations.
Go on your knees today and intercede for this country, for our
President, for all in authority and
also for the lost souls. Pray for supernatural wisdom for those in
authority in directing the affair of this country in the right course
and conversion of lost souls into God’s kingdom by the power of the
Holy Spirit.
CONFESSION FOR THE DAY-
I decree and declare that those in authority in this country walk in
God’s wisdom in leading this country in the right course and the Word
of God have a free course and prevail in Jesus name. Amen.
PASTOR SAMUELSOULS’ DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY:
I pray for you today, that God’s Spirit rest upon you and give you a
new hunger for Souls and to see his kingdom reigning mightily upon the
earth in Jesus name. Amen.
